How we got to Berlin

Ok, here's the part of the journey we cheat. We took a flight from Moscow to Berlin. Yes, I greatly wish we got to go past Warsaw to get here, but sigh.....

I put on earphones for the first time on the journey durig the flight. Strange how I was prepared to have nothing to do on long tain journeys and can feel content staring out the window without any distraction, but that I would need music on a short plane ride. It was almost too fast, just 2 hours versus a 2-Fay train ride.

Oh, and we nearly missed our flight. We literally had to race to our gate and look embarrassed being the last ones to board the plane.

It took us 2 hours and 45 mins to get to the airport! First we had to walk to the metro station which takes 40min with heavy backpacks. Then we take the metro to the wrong train station. Then we take the metro to the right train station. That takes 1 hour already. And we wait 20min for the train to depart. Then it's a 45-min train ride to the airport.

I miss train travel already. To catch a train, you just need to get to the platform before the train departs and train stations are always in the city whereas airports are always not. In a train, customs & immigration officers come to your cabin to clear paperwork instead of you having to wait in long queues. Faster is not always better...
