Shopping in Mitte

We have ceased to be travellers, cos in Mitte we reveal our true Singaporean selves and become shopaholics. Bur how can we not? This place is choke full of cool shops. Here's the coolest one of them all, BFN-Berlin Fashion Network. And it is here EK bought the most expensive t-shirt he has ever owned.

Holocaust memorial
Fabulos piece of work! 2000+ concrete slats of varying heights, some even level with the ground. It's a spectacular visually and seeped with meaning on many different levels (pun intended). They could look like the tombstones of the Jews who died, or the lines that Jews firmed gouge into gas chambers. Or the best one yet, the many heights reresent the intensity of Jewish persecution, that it could start from implicit discrimination (ie: the ground level slabs) to the tallest blocks (the murder of jews).

Checkpoint Charlie

Gendearmarkt - the french cathedral

Nicholaivertel

TV Tower

The Berlin wall at topographie des terrors -
A Must-see museum that documents the beginning to the end of the third reich. Instensivly sobering and horrifying.

An art space at Mitte.
